To find out, we asked our testers to try some popular options and report back. While maintaining a nutritious diet is important, sometimes that’s easier said than done when you’re busy at work—and supplements can be an easy way to bridge the gap.

Here are our top picks for the best colostrum supplements for busy professionals.

Our Thoughts on Transparent Labs Grass-Fed Colostrum

Transparent Labs advertises its colostrum supplement as containing premium grass-fed colostrum that supports immune resilience, gut health, and recovery in athletes and others who train hard. The company highlights that it sources the colostrum from grass-fed cows.

Our tester, Pete, tried this product. He added a scoop to water and mixed until the powder was fully dissolved. He noted that the powder dissolved nicely with “no chunks or clumps left after shaking.” He rated it a 5 out of 5 for how easy it was to follow instructions, and another 5 out of 5 for how easy it was to mix.

Transparent Labs as best colostrum supplement

In terms of flavor, Pete said, “The Transparent Labs colostrum tasted like milk. I’d compare it to a skim milk, especially since I mixed it with water. The supplement I tested was unflavored but Transparent Labs does offer a chocolate flavor as well.” He rated it a 3 out of 5 for taste. He also noted that the texture was nice and smooth, and that he didn’t experience any side effects while using the product.

Additionally, Pete, who is a certified nutritionist, noted, “At 20 grams per serving, this is one of the highest-potency colostrum supplements available and provides 4,000 mg of IgG per serving, which is well into the therapeutic and performance benefit range. The product is also cold-processed to preserve the bioactive compounds in the supplement and third-party tested for purity and label accuracy.”

Easy to mix with a subtly sweet flavor

People who want an easy-to-drink option sourced from cows

PROS
  • Easy to mix with liquid
  • Neutral flavor
  • Smooth texture
CONS
  • Seems lower potency
  • Unclear how much IgG per serving
  • $125 free shipping minimum

Our Thoughts on ARMRA Colostrum

ARMRA says its colostrum can strengthen your skin, lung, and gut barriers, support your microbiome, and help with cellular health and performance. The company says its product has a clean, malty, and smooth flavor, and can be mixed with liquids, yogurt, or added to food—as long as the food isn’t hot (as that can “degrade” the bioactive active compounds, according to the company’s website).

Pete, our tester, tried this, saying he blended a scoop of ARMRA Colostrum with 8 ounces of water and shook the mixture for 60 seconds. Pete noted, “It dissolved completely during the 60 second shake with no clumping or grittiness.” He gave the product a 5 out of 5 for its instructions, and another 5 out of 5 because of how easy it was to mix.

Arma as best colostrum supplement

He said the flavor is barely perceptible, and “at most, there’s a very light milk flavor, similar to highly diluted skim milk, but it’s really subtle.” He rated it a 1 out of 5 for sweetness, indicating it wasn’t sweet at all.

Pete enjoyed the smooth, easy-to-drink texture, though one drawback he noted was that the dosage was lower than what is tested in clinical research. Pete added, “While ARMRA does claim that their patented technology creates a concentrate that’s very potent, they don’t disclose the amount of immunoglobulin G (IgG) per serving so it’s not possible to assess the overall potency.”

Research-supported dosage

Those trying to optimize gut health

PROS
  • Research-backed dosage
  • No noticeable flavor
  • Capsule form easier for travel
CONS
  • Instructions difficult to read
  • Some may prefer versatility of a powder instead
  • $99 free shipping minimum

Our Thoughts on Swolverine Colostrum

Swolverine says its colostrum helps support digestive health and post‑exercise recovery, and that the formula doesn’t contain any unnecessary fillers or artificial additives. The company says its colostrum is particularly beneficial for athletes and active individuals, and for people with “gut-focused routines” looking for digestive comfort and a healthy GI environment.

Pete, our tester, tried this product. While his first impression rating was a 5 out of 5, he then noticed the label. Pete said, “There is a lot of text on the label and it’s a pretty small font size, which can make it difficult to read unless you’re holding the bottle close to your face.” He rated this product’s instructions a 3 out of 5. He followed the instructions and took the capsule as indicated, noting the powder inside was white and the capsule itself was tasteless. He gave this colostrum supplement a 3 out of 5 for taste.

Swolverine as best colostrum supplement

Pete didn’t experience any side effects, and after examining the product label he observed: “Swolverine’s colostrum supplement contains 500 milligrams of colostrum per serving. The noteworthy aspect of this product is that it’s been standardized to contain 30 percent immunoglobulin G (IgG). The reason this is important is because IgG is the active antibody that has the real immune and gut health benefits. If you take two to three capsules per day, you’ll be within the studied range for general health and gut health benefits.”

Impressive sourcing and convenient capsule form

People who want colostrum in capsule form

PROS
  • Excellent sourcing
  • Nice packaging
  • Travel friendly
CONS
  • Lower dosage
  • Some may prefer versatility of a powder instead
  • Slightly higher price point

Our Thoughts on Heart & Soil Grass-Fed Colostrum

Heart & Soil notes that its grass-fed colostrum is ethically sourced with nothing removed or added, and that it undergoes low-temperature, low-pressure processing. The company says its colostrum promotes healthy immune function, gut lining integrity, muscle growth, and tissue repair. Some of the benefits sound similar to the benefits of creatine supplements, but with additional immune and gut benefits.

Our tester, Pete, tried Heart & Soil’s grass-fed colostrum and commented on the glass bottle with a metal lid that opened and closed easily. He gave the product a 5 out of 5 based on first impressions. Pete said label is well designed, and the suggested use is six capsules daily or as directed by a healthcare professional. He noted that the capsules contain a white powder and were tasteless. He gave the product a 5 out of 5 for how easy the instructions were to follow. He also rated this colostrum supplement a 3 out of 5 for its neutral taste.

Heart and Soil Grass Fed as best colostrum supplement

Pete didn’t experience any side effects, though he did comment on one possible drawback. He explained, “People typically use colostrum supplements for their anti-inflammatory effects and potential gut-health benefits. However, most clinical studies evaluating colostrum use doses ranging from 10 to 60 grams per day over periods of four to 12 weeks. Compared to those research protocols, the 3-gram daily serving in Heart & Soil Colostrum falls well below the amounts commonly studied.”

Our tester did commend the sourcing, though, adding, “Heart & Soil uses colostrum from grass-fed New Zealand cows, which is generally considered a high-quality standard. New Zealand farming practices are known for strict regulations that limit the use of hormones, pesticides, and antibiotics.”

The easy mixability and neutral flavor

Those looking for hair growth support

PROS
  • Pleasant, mild flavor
  • Sourced from local, grass-fed cows
  • Powder is easy to mix with liquids
CONS
  • Unable to determine IgG concentration
  • Appears to be a lower-dosage product
  • Most expensive product in the lineup

Our Thoughts on Organifi Colostrum

Organifi says its colostrum supplement is locally sourced from grass-fed bovine, resulting in a colostrum supplement that’s packed with nutrients, immunological compounds, growth factors, and more. The company claims its supplement supports immune and gut health, and “re-beautifies” skin, hair, and nails.

Pete, our tester, tried Organifi’s colostrum supplement and first noted the container’s “premium look.” He rated it a 5 out of 5 for his first impression of the product.

Our tester mixed one scoop of Organifi Colostrum with 8 ounces of water and shook it for 60 seconds, which resulted in the product fully dissolving. Pete rated it a 5 out of 5 for how well it mixed with water. He also noted that the powder was unflavored, and “the taste was barely noticeable when mixed with water.” Pete said there was only a faint milk-like taste and gave this product a 3 out of 5 for its flavor.

Organifi as best colostrum supplement

While analyzing the label, Pete noted, “Organifi Colostrum claims to support immune health, promote gut health, and help maintain healthy skin, hair, and nails. And at the 5-gram serving size, you may experience some mild immune support, modest digestive benefits, and general exposure to colostrum’s bioactive compounds. However, this dosage is unlikely to replicate the same benefit seen in higher-dose clinical studies, such as helping with gut permeability or immune modulation.”

Pete also said that he couldn’t locate the IgG concentration on the supplement facts panel nor on the company’s website, which made it tough to assess the product’s potency. He concluded, “Overall, the product appears to be positioned more as a general wellness product rather than a clinically dosed colostrum supplement.”

We also like collagen supplements for hair growth, but think this colostrum supplement is a great option, too.

What is Colostrum?

While humans can produce colostrum, the kind used in supplements typically comes from cows. You might see “bovine” listed as a source on the ingredient label. Bovine colostrum is the milk that cows produce during the first several days after giving birth. The colostrum contains antibodies and other beneficial substances and helps prevent infections in newborn calves. In more recent years, bovine colostrum has made its way into supplements with the idea that humans can benefit from it as well.

How We Tested and Selected the Best Colostrum Supplements

There can be a lot of variation in supplement quality. Here are the factors we paid close attention to during testing.

Taste and Texture

We looked at whether the supplements had a certain taste, and we also considered their texture—particularly the powdered formulas that got blended with liquids.

Formula

As part of our testing process, we work with a certified nutritionist to find the safest formulas. This ensures that product dosages are clinically supported and support the recommended daily values, and that products don’t contain any undesirable ingredients.

Transparent Labs as best colostrum supplement

Mixability

We prepared each product as instructed by the company, and—for the powdered supplements—we noted how well each one dissolved and whether there was any noticeable grittiness.

Third-Party Testing

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not approve dietary supplements for safety or efficacy, so ingredients and their amounts may be different from what’s on the label. For that reason, we look for products that have been third-party tested to confirm safety and accuracy.

Value

When examining products, we looked at a lot of different factors, but these were some of the most important for determining overall value.

Pro Tip

Make sure to consider your unique needs and overall health goals when choosing a supplement. While colostrum offers many benefits, for example, there are also NMN supplements, iron supplements, melatonin, and more. Get clear on the benefits you’re seeking before you start shopping.

How to Choose a Quality Colostrum for You

When looking for a colostrum supplement, here are some factors to think about.

Your Personal Goals

Consider your own goals as you choose a supplement. Are you looking for a certain dosage, third-party testing, the inclusion or exclusion of a certain ingredient, or something else? It’s useful to think about your unique needs and preferences before buying a new product.

Flavors

Make sure to think about what flavors you prefer and choose a supplement that best aligns with your own preferences.

Organifi as best colostrum supplement

Form

Everyone has different preferences, so make sure you choose a colostrum supplement that suits you. If you don’t like taking pills, a powder may be best.

Cost

Supplements can be pricey, so think about your budget before buying. You can usually find a wide range of prices for the same type of supplement, so many people are able to find something at a price point that works for them.

Third-Party Testing

We prioritize supplements that have been third-party tested for safety and efficacy, given that the FDA doesn’t do that.

Colostrum Supplement Benefits

Here are some of the reasons people may consider taking a colostrum supplement.

  • Help with inflammatory bowel disease: A 2021 review in Advances in Nutrition concluded that bovine colostrum may help with inflammatory diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease, noting that bovine colostrum has been shown to be an efficient anti-inflammatory supplement. However, the researchers noted that further research is needed.
  • May help with diabetes: Research published in Current Diabetes Reviews in 2024 found that colostrum might be a useful intervention for people with diabetes, but that additional research is needed to fully understand things like the exact mechanism of action and dosage.

What to Avoid in Colostrum Supplements

We recommend ensuring any colostrum supplement you’re considering includes only the ingredients you want, and not additional things that may not be beneficial. For example, we generally recommend avoiding:

  • Unnecessary fillers like artificial colors or excessive binding ingredients
  • Products that haven’t been third-party tested for safety or efficacy.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to take colostrum?

There’s no “best” time, but many people prefer to take colostrum and other supplements in the morning so it’ simply becomes part of their morning routine.

What is the best form of colostrum to take?

The best form to take really comes down to personal preference. Some people prefer a powder that they can mix into a beverage, whereas others would prefer the simplicity of a capsule.

How long does it take to notice the benefits of colostrum?

When taking bovine supplements, individual results tend to vary. There’s no guarantee of how long it will take before you begin to see results, but it might be helpful to read reviews on the company’s website to see what other users have noted—just to give an idea of what others have experienced. That said, your own results may still differ.
