  • Several businesses are offering discounts and free products on April 15. That’s especially true of restaurants, with one-cent cheeseburgers and free doughnuts.

April 15 is always kind of a bittersweet day. Filing your taxes is a slog, even if you are expecting to get a refund. But it doesn’t have to be all bad.

Sure, this year could be even more chaotic, with staff cuts at the Internal Revenue Service and general uncertainty about the direction of the IRS. But to make that less stressful, there are plenty of free and discounted deals being offered this year from restaurants and other businesses.

Here are a few to keep an eye out for while you’re out and about on Tax Day:

Free and cheap food for Tax Day 2025

Krispy Kreme

Guests who purchase an Assorted or Original Glazed dozen at regular price will only pay the sales tax on a second Original Glazed dozen. And if you order online, use the code TAXBREAK to get a second dozen of Original Glazed.

Burger King

If you’re a member of the company’s Royal Perks loyalty program, you can get a cheeseburger for one cent with a purchase of $1 or more.

Great American Cookies

Buy a slice of chocolate chip cookie cake and you’ll get a second one as well.

Kona Ice

Miss the giveaway on the first day of Spring? The company is offering a free shaved ice to everyone on tax day as well.

Checkers & Rally’s

Get a spicy chicken or crispy fish sandwich for just $3 on April 15 only.

Shake Shack

Grab a free single Black Truffle Burger, Black Truffle ‘Shroom or Black Truffle Parmesan Fries with a purchase of $10.40 or more. You’ll need to use the code TRUFFLETAX. The good news, though, is this deal runs through April 27.

Casey’s Pizza

Buy a large pizza from the chain and you’ll get a “pizza refund,” which can be exchanged for a free, large one-topping pie between now and May 6.

Smoothie King

If you’re a Smoothie King Healthy Rewards Member, you’ll get $3 off any $15 purchase and $4 off of any $20 purchase.

Olive Garden

While it’s not exactly a tax day break, the chain is in the middle of its “Buy One, Take One” promotion, meaning you can take home a second order when you dine in the restaurant.

California Pizza Kitchen

Take $10 off any purchase of $40 or more. This deal runs through April 17.

Fazoli’s

If you’re a fan of the Baked Spaghetti, you can get a buy-one-get-one-free deal with the code TAX25.

Round Table Pizza

Take $7 off any large or extra-large pizza with the code RTP220.

Sonny’s BBQ

Grab a St. Louis Rib Dinner for only $10.99.

Mountain Mike’s Pizza

The chain is offering 15% off any pepperoni pizza (excluding minis) if you use the code ALLPEPP1525.

Potbelly

Buy any Big or Original sandwich and get a free Original sandwich as well, if you use the code BOGO.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

Get a free size upgrade on any beverage. Order a medium, get a large.

Other Tax Day 2025 freebies

7-Eleven

Get $10.40 off of any delivery order of $20 or more. You’ll need to use the code WRITEOFF.

Straight Talk

Customers can get a free Samsung Galaxy A16 5G with the purchase of a Gold or Platinum Unlimited Plan.

Total Wireless

Switch to a 3-month 5G or 3-month 5G+ plan and the carrier will give you an iPhone 13.

Planet Fitness

From April 12 – 19, you can get a free HydroMassage, whether you’re a Planet Fitness Black Card member or not.
