    Tax day isn’t fun.

Even if you’re getting a refund, you’re still sweating whether you’ve filled out your return correctly and redoing some of the math in your head. And if you’re not getting a refund, you’re doing some internal accounting about how to stretch this month’s income to account for that payment you just handed over to the state and/or federal government.

Good news: Several restaurants and other businesses will offer specials and giveaways to make the day a little less painful. Here are a few you might want to consider.

Free food and drink on Tax Day

    Arby’s

It’s technically not a Tax Day deal, but this is Free Sandwich Month at the chain, so members of the Rewards program can get a free sandwich deal loaded to their account (as they will every day this month).

    California Pizza Kitchen

CPK Rewards members can get $10 off a $40 order on tax day. (Get it?) Hawaiian guests, however, are excluded.

    Great American Cookies

Indulge your sweet tooth with a free Cookie cake slice when you buy one.

    Hooters

Order 10 wings and get 10 more for free. Also, if you’re a member of the HootClub Rewards program, you can get a free dessert today.

    Kona Ice

As part of its “National Chill Out Day” day, the company is offering a free shaved ice to everyone on Monday only.

    Krispy Kreme

Purchase an Original Glazed or assorted dozen in any shop and you can get a second Original Glazed dozen for the price of sales tax in your state.

    Paris Baguette

Rewards members will get a free pastry with the purchase of any beverage.

    Sonny’s BBQ

Get half off Sweet & Smokey or House Dry-Rubbed rib dinners.

    WhistlePig Whiskey

The distiller will cover the sales tax on all purchases of WhistlePig Estate Oak Rye Aged 15 Years on tax day and is hosting a contest that will award $1,500 to 15 taxpayers.

    Other tax day deals

    Office Depot/ Office Max

Office Depot and Office Max will shred up to 5 pounds of documents through April 27, 2024. You’ll need a coupon for that, which you can find on their website.

    Southwest Airlines

Earn 1,000 Rapid Rewards points when you file with TurboTax.

Fortune Global Forum returns Oct. 26–27, 2025 in Riyadh. CEOs and global leaders will gather for a dynamic, invitation-only event shaping the future of business. Apply for an invitation.
