Verizon customers could be entitled to up to $100 as part of a proposed settlement by the wireless provider.

The carrier is looking to resolve a class-action lawsuit that accused it of unfair administrative fees that were not adequately disclosed to customers. Verizon has denied any wrongdoing, but has agreed to settle the case. The action comes as the Biden administration has pressed Congress to pass laws eliminating “junk fees” by a number of companies.

The amount customers will be eligible for will depend on how long they’ve been with Verizon. Minimum payouts will come in at $15, with some customers potentially receiving as much as $100. Payments will be delivered via check, prepaid debit cards, or electronic payment.

How do I file a claim?

If you’re eligible to receive a portion of the settlement, you don’t have to do too much. Verizon will send you either an email or a letter, which will contain a Notice ID and Confirmation code.

Once you’ve got that in hand, you’ve got until April 15, 2024, to submit the claim on Verizon’s website.

To be eligible, you’ll need to have paid for your services on a monthly basis and been a customer between the periods of Jan. 1, 2016, and Nov. 8, 2023.

If you prefer not to be part of the class-action settlement, you can opt out and retain the right to sue Verizon separately over the matter. If you do nothing, you will not receive any settlement payment.
