Betty White’s Los Angeles home sells for $10.7 million. The new owners will likely tear it down

Less than six months after she passed away in December, Betty White’s Brentwood, Calif., home has found a buyer.

The modest (by celebrity standards) five-bedroom, 3,029-square-foot home, which sits on .72 acres, sold for $10.678 million, a bit higher than its asking price of $10.575 million.

That’s more a testament to the real estate market, especially in California, than it is to White’s popularity. The house, in fact, will likely be torn down by the unnamed buyer. The listing did not include pictures of the interior and potential buyers were not allowed inside.

“This is a unique opportunity to build your dream home on a flat lot in a serene country setting,” the listing read. “The property is being sold for land value.”

In April, another White property, her Carmel, Calif., beach house, sold for $10.775 million, nearly $3 million above its asking price.

The Brentwood home was built in 1952 and White moved there in 1968 with husband Allen Ludden, who passed away in 1981.

“He would call me from wherever he was working and say, ‘You wanna go out to dinner? You wanna have a date?’ And I’d say ‘Sure!’ Well, going out to dinner meant he’d stop on the way home and pick up a chicken and put it on the barbecue outside. There’s a room behind the house, and we’d go out there and put on a stack of records, have our barbecue dinner, and dance,” White told Gannett News Service in 1991.

The Golden Girls star died in December 2021 after suffering a stroke days before her 100th birthday.
