Genexa launched in 2016 as a new kind of pharmaceutical maker, touting to produce conventional over-the-counter medicines without artificial preservatives and fillers. Most recently, the company launched its own versions of extra strength and p.m. adult acetaminophen—on par with the same active ingredients and dosages as comparable Tylenol products—as well as a large retail partnership with Walmart.

The company has also amassed a large base of celebrity investors. Actress Regina Hall recently shared a little more with Fortune about her decision to invest in the company.

Why she invested, in her own words

My health and the health of my family and community is a priority in my life, and I’ve always been eager to support businesses that positively impact population and improve quality of life; Genexa does just that. The work Genexa is doing to give people access to the first clean medicine options felt deeply personal, and I wanted to be part of their growth and at the forefront of the clean medicine movement they’re pioneering.

As an investor, I’m excited to use my platform to bring awareness to the countless synthetic fillers and other artificial preservatives currently in our OTC medicines and to help educate people about the clean options now available for the very first time thanks to Genexa’s work in the industry.

To be our best we need to feel our best, and Genexa’s clean medicines offer people the same, effective medicines they need but without the artificial fillers they don’t need. I believe firmly that what we put into our bodies matters, and I’m proud to be involved with a brand that is setting a new standard in our medicine aisles and putting people first in all that they do.

This is an installment of Why I Invested, a series featuring famous investors from all different backgrounds and industries, revealing what inspired them to invest their own money in a new business.
