Chipotle Is Back on Top in Consumer’s Eyes

You know that Mexican restaurant that had a food safety crisis just over a year ago?

Shares of Chipotle Mexican Grill may still be down 22% since 12 months earlier, but the company is back to being the top Mexican food joint in the country, according to a recent report from Market Force Information.

At least, from the consumer’s perspective. Market Force polled some 11,000 consumers in January, who said that Chipotle is now America’s favorite Mexican food chain.

Last year, that crown was stolen by Taco Bueno. But in 2016 Chipotle commanded loyalty of some 57% of consumers.

Respondents this year said they liked Chipotle for its speedy service, cleanliness, and food quality, according to CNBC.

Chipotle, on its end, has struggled to show consumers that the burrito chain is clean and trustworthy. The company has even offered free guacamole in a bid to get customers back through the doors.
