President Donald Trump will host Chinese President Xi Jinping at his Mar-A-Lago estate in April, Axios reports.
The two presidents are expected to meet for two days for a working session at Trump’s “Winter White House” in Palm Beach, Fla. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer confirmed during Monday’s press briefing, though the date has not been released.
President Trump has targeted China as a threat to the U.S. and appeared to shun the longstanding “one China” policy during the transition by having a phone call with Taiwan. The president has also taken a hard-line approach to trade with China. Trump has since reassured President Xi that he will honor the “one China” policy.
The Mar-A-Lago meeting is likely to provide a relaxed locale for an important meeting between two world leaders.
