The Australian airline Qantas has announced the world’s third-longest passenger flight with the launch of a non-stop trip between Perth and London, beginning in March 2018.
The 9,000-mile flight, which is expected to take about 17 hours and run 14 times each week, will be the first non-stop flight between London and Australia.
Qantas CEO Allan Joyce said he hopes the new route will draw more Australians to Europe.
“Australians have never had a direct link to Europe before so the opportunities this opens up are huge,” he said. “Our modeling shows that people from the east coast as well as South Australia would fly domestically to Pert to connect to our non-stop London service.”
