Some people really want In-N-Out, the iconic West Coast burger joint, to serve a veggie burger.

A petition on Change.org that was started in early September has over 20,000 signatures, and as of late Wednesday morning is just over 2,100 signatures away from reaching its goal of 25,000 supporters.

The petition says that In-N-Out is “letting fans down” by not serving a veggie burger—and option for customers that want a “healthy, humane, and sustainable option,” it says.

“Burger chains nationwide have been getting huge returns from meat alternatives, and In-N-Out could do the same. Chipotle has vegan sofritas, Whitecastle has veggie sliders–even fast-food kingpin Burger King has the BK Veggie!” the petition reads.

But the idea is facing major backlash. Many have turned to social media to make their outrage known, but others have used the comment section on the petition to express their thoughts on the idea.

“As a vegetarian myself, this is a stupid petition. Why, as a vegan, would you want to support a company that slaughters cows by the thousands?” reads one comment.

And another comment reads: “This absolutely the most incredibly stupid thing I have heard in a while, and there is a LOT of stupid going around. In-N-Out, please do not change anything for these morons. If you do not want a burger, do not go to a burger stand.”

And the negative reactions don’t stop there. Twitter has also been flooded with anti-veggie burger tweets:

Petitioning In-n-Out for a veggie burger is like petitioning a pizza place for Chinese food. It's not something they make! Move on!

if in n out (A BURGER PLACE) is required to serve veggie burgers I'm going to need all vegan/vegetarian places to offer me a meat option

Business Insider reports that vegetarian option currently available at In-N-Out is fries, or cheese and veggies between two burger buns.

It’s not clear if the burger joint will make any moves to offer a veggie burger if the petition reaches its goal, but Fortune has reached out to In-N-Out and will update the story if it responds.
