Ray Dalio is the manager of the world’s largest hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates, but that doesn’t mean he can’t profit from taking a lesson straight out of Warren Buffett’s book.
Like Buffett did back in 2015, Dalio is donating an hour and a half of his time to charity, by auctioning off the chance to have lunch with this macro-mastermind, with all the proceeds going to the David Lynch Foundation, a charity that helps at risk populations like returning veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder heal themselves through transcendental meditation.
As of Friday afternoon, there has been just one bid of $5,000 received, though the website facilitating the auction, Charitybuzz, says the lunch is worth $50,000. According to the post, the winner can bring a guest to the lunch and will take place in New York or Dalio’s home state of Connecticut, at a restaurant of Dalio’s choosing.
When Buffett auctioned his time last year, the Oracle of Omaha was able to raise $2.35 million from Chinese gaming company Da Lian Zeus Entertainment.
