Watch This New Apple Ad Starring Cookie Monster

Hey Siri, Cookie Monster’s calling.

And he wants cookies.

A new Apple ad released Wednesday shows even Cookie Monster can use the hands-free Siri feature. Which is a good thing since the iPhone touchscreen probably isn’t very fuzzy blue paw-friendly.

Apple’s signature voice recognition software, which went hands-free back in September, has drawn fresh criticism this week after it was revealed that Siri doesn’t really know how to respond to crises like rape or suicide attempts.

But Apple (AAPL) seems to be saying hey, if Siri can understand the gravelly, caveman tones of Cookie Monster, what’s there to worry about?

Set the timer for your cookies, and settle in with a little Jim Croce:

Apple’s new Siri promotion comes just as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak gives another hands-free voice recognition star, the Amazon (AMZN) Echo, his own endorsement. The Echo’s Alexa can turn on lights, pay bills, order a pizza, and yes, set and check a timer hands-free like Siri.

“I don’t even have to get out of the sheets to use it,” Wozniak wrote yesterday in a Reddit AMA.

As for Cookie Monster, Siri’s good enough for him.
