Amazon Is About to Give QVC a Run for Its Money

Amazon (AMZN) is set to debut a live, daily show dedicated to fashion and beauty. “Style Code Live,” a 30-minute show, will stream starting on Tuesday, Monday through Friday, at 9pmET/6pmPT, and be offered free to all viewers at amazon.com/stylecodelive.

The hosts of the show—Lyndsey Rodrigues (MTV’s “Total Request Live”), Rachel Smith (an ABC News correspondent for “Good Morning America”), and Frankie Grande (CBS’s “Big Brother 16”)—along with a rotating lineup of guests, will offer viewers tips on fashion and beauty. Viewers will then be able to shop for the corresponding products in an accompanying gallery just below the video player. The show will not feature advertising as of now.

“Our viewers have been asking for fashion and beauty tips,” Munira Rahemtulla, head of “Style Code Live,” told Variety. “We wanted to build something for them, so we came up with ‘Style Code Live.’ We’ve been working on it for quite a while. We think this is something viewers are really looking for, and we’re excited about it.”

 

The premiere will feature Danielle Bernstein, founder of fashion blog WeWoreWhat, talking about her must-haves for spring. Upcoming episodes will include Meghan Trainor, Keri Russell and YouTube star Tati Westbrook.

“Style Code Live gives viewers a first-of-its-kind daily style and entertainment experience. We’re live, interactive, and covering the latest trends in fashion and beauty each weeknight—with guest experts, celebrities, and viewer tips,” said executive producer Terrence Noonan. “We are building a community and are super excited for our viewers to be part of it.”

Rahemtulla said each of the hosts bring their own style to the show. “They have really great chemistry, and they’ll connect with viewers,” she said. “Together they’re something for everyone.”

Going live, she said, enables them to offer interactive elements, including a live chat, where viewers can interact with the hosts during the show and ask questions. “We can talk about what’s trending now, what’s happening in social media,” she said. “That way we’re able to create a community of people talking about fashion and beauty.”
