Well, that didn’t last long.
Back in May, we broke news that Jess Verrilli was stepping down as director of corporate development and strategy at Twitter (TWTR), in order to join Google Ventures as a partner. Then, earlier this afternoon, came this series of tweets:
So it sounds like a slight promotion in title (from director of corp dev and strategy to senior director of corp dev and strategy), and working for a different CEO (Dick Costolo was still there when Verrilli first departed after six years at the company).
“She basically feels like her work there still wasn’t done (she’d been there since the beginning), and felt the call to return after Jack was officially named CEO,” a Google Ventures spokeswoman says. “We’ll miss her at GV, but the team here is supportive of her move, and can understand the love and loyalty she feels for the Twitter crew.”
Verrilli originally joined Twitter in April 2009, and was credited with playing a key role in acquisitions like Periscope and Vine.
