Fortune MPW

In 1998, Fortune magazine published its first-ever Most Powerful Women in Business list.

A year later, that list–which highlighted the feats of the world’s most successful businesswomen–turned into an event. At the Hudson Theater in midtown Manhattan, Fortune gathered about 200 prominent female leaders (including then-eBay (EBAY) CEO Meg Whitman, then-Morgan Stanley analyst Mary Meeker and then-Today Show anchor Katie Couric) at its inaugural Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit.

That event has since turned into a community. Today marks the start of the 16th annual MPW Summit: 400 women will gather at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel, CA, to talk about global business issues, glean professional advice from one another, and–most importantly–reunite with countless peers and friends.

Every year, the MPW Summit sparks amazing, robust conversations about the leadership challenges the attendees–from IBM (IBM) CEO Ginni Rometty to tennis legend Billie Jean King to actress-turned-entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow–face. But in the past, there’s never been a place for those women to continue their fruitful discussions.

So MPW is going digital. The Fortune MPW Channel, which launched today, features stories about news-making women. Much like the annual MPW Summit, the channel highlights female successes in business and beyond.

It also provides a space for our MPW community to share their wisdom and experiences with broader groups of aspiring women. The MPW Insider Network, a new digital extension of the Summit, will be a part of the MPW Channel. It’s a platform that allows our MPW community to continue the conversations they started at the Summit and share their advice and insights about their work and the global issues that matter most to today’s business leaders.

Come join us! Check out Fortune‘s new MPW channel here.
