Aereo, a Long Island City-based provider of technology that lets users access live broadcast television on Internet-enabled devices, has raised $34 million in Series C funding. Gordon Crawford and Himalaya Capital Management were joined by return backers IAC/InterActiveCorp, Highland Capital Partners and FirstMark Capital.

Blueprint Medicines
, a Cambridge, Mass.-based provider of kinase inhibitors for genomically-defined cancer subsets, has raised $25 million in Series B funding. Nextech Invest Ltd. led the round, and was joined by Third Rock Ventures, Fidelity Biosciences, Biotech Value Fund and Casdin

Zephyr Health
, a San Francisco-based big data analytics platform for companies in the life sciences industry, has raised $15 million in new VC funding co-led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byrs and Jafco Ventures.

Watkins Hire, a UK-based provider of industrial and commercial heating and cooling equipment rental services, has raised £10.1 million in equity funding from Baird Capital.

Ethical Electric
, a Chevy Chase, Calif.-based renewable energy provider, has raised $11 million in Series A funding led by Matthew Palevsky.

Maverix Biomics Inc., a San Mateo, Calif.–based provider of software for genomic data analysis, has raised $6 million in Series A funding. Asset Management Ventures led the round, and was joined by Andreas Bechtolsheim and Andrew Yang.

Lumiata, a San Mateo, Calif.–based provider of predictive analytics for medical science and patient data, has raised $4 million in Series A funding from Khosla Ventures.

ThisClicks, a St. Paul, Minn.–based provider of cloud-based employee management software, has raised $4 million in Series A funding. Backers include E.Ventures, Greycroft Partners and Arthur Ventures.

AllyAlign Health, a Richmond, Va.-based long-term care management services organization, has raised an undisclosed amount of strategic funding from Health Enterprise Partners and Heritage

Private Equity Deals

Aden & Anais, a New York-based provider of infant and juvenile products, has raised an undisclosed amount of equity funding from Swander Pace Capital. A regulatory filing suggests that the investment is around $57 million.

Dering Capital reportedly is the only remaining bidder for French broadcast tower operator TDF. Reuters previously reported that Dering had offered just shy of $5 billion for TDF – slightly higher than a Canadian consortium led by PSP Investments that has now abandoned the process.

Evidera, a portfolio company of Symphony Technology Group, has acquired Archimedes, a San Francisco-based healthcare modeling company, from Kaiser Permanente. No financial terms were disclosed.

Fieldwood Energy LLC, a portfolio company of Riverstone Holdings, has agreed to pay $750 million in cash for oil and gas assets in the Gulf of Mexico from SandRidge Energy Inc. (NYSE: SD).

Freeman Spogli & Co. has acquired a minority stake in Arhaus LLC, a Walton Hills, Ohio-based home furnishings retailer. No financial terms were disclosed.

The Halifax Group has sponsored a recapitalization of Golden State Overnight, a Pleasanton, Calif.–based provider of overnight delivery services in California, Nevada and Arizona. No financial terms were disclosed. BellMark Partners managed the process.

MedHOK Inc., a Tampa, Fla.-based platform for healthcare provider compliance and improved reimbursement outcomes, has raised $77.5 million in private equity funding from Bain Capital Ventures and Spectrum Equity Investors. Each firm provided an equal investment, in exchange for a minority ownership position.

Resilience Capital Partners has acquired the direct sales business of G&K Services Inc. (Nasdaq: GK) for an undisclosed amount. The business will be part of a newly-formed platform called Affinity Specialty Apparel, which will sell and distribute occupational apparel and services.

Rotunda Capital Partners has acquired Discount Ramps LLC, an online retailer of loading, hauling and transportation products. No financial terms were disclosed.

Secure Communication Systems, a portfolio company of Vance Street Capital, has acquiredTactical Micro, a Fredericksburg, Va.-based provider of training, instrumentation and surveillance solutions for military and commercial customers. The seller was Relativity Capital. No financial terms were disclosed, except that Fifth Third Bank provided senior debt and Babson Capital provided mezzanine debt.

SiriusDecisions Inc., a Wilton, Conn.–based provider of subscription-based research and advisory services for sales and marketing, has raised an undisclosed amount of growth equity funding from JMI

TA Associates has acquired a majority stake in Towne Park, an Annapolis, Md.–based provider of outsourced parking management and other hospitality services to the hotel and healthcare markets. No financial terms were disclosed.

Thomas H. Lee Partners has agreed to acquire online contact lens retailer 1-800 Contacts fromWellPoint (NYSE: WLP). No financial terms were disclosed. WellPoint also agreed to sell the assets of and its virtual try-on technology to Luxottica.


TPG Capital has agreed to sell Aptalis Holdings, a Bridgewater, N.J.-based drug developer focused on such conditions as cystic fibrosis and gastrointestinal disorders, to Forest Laboratories Inc. for approximately $2.9 billion. Aptalis had filed for an IPO last month.

Becton Dickinson & Co. has acquired Alverix Inx., a San Jose, Calif.–based maker of medical diagnostic test equipment. No financial terms were disclosed. New Venture Partners and Safeguard Scientifics spun Alverix out of Avago Technologies in 2007.

Pouschine Cook Capital Management is seeking a buyer for Great Lakes Caring LLC, a home healthcare and hospice care provider in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, according to LBO Wire.

Skillsoft Ltd., a Nashua, N.H.-based provider of e-learning solutions for enterprise employees, has retained Deutsche Bank to find a buyer, according to Reuters. The company was taken private for $1.2 billion in 2010 by Advent International, Bain Capital and Berkshire Partners. A sale could value the company at around $2 billion.

Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) has acquired Aviate, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based developer of an “intelligent” homescreen for Android devices. No financial terms were disclosed. Aviate had raised $1.8 million in seed funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Highland Capital Partners, Freestyle Capital and Draper Associates.

Gilde Healthcare has acquired a majority stake in Viroclinics Biosciences, a Rotterdam–based virology contract research organization, from Erasmus University Medical Center. No financial terms were disclosed.

Sandvik of Sweden has agreed to acquire Varel International Energy Services, a Carrollton, Texas-based provider of oil drilling equipment, for approximately $740 million.
