Venture capitalist Peter Rip passes away

November 19, 2010, 12:04 AM UTC

Some very sad news out of the venture capital community, where Peter Rip has passed away after a 10-year battle against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Peter had been a partner with Crosslink Ventures, where he focused on digital media, Internet services and business services. His portfolio companies included iLike, iCurrent and LucidEra.

Before joining Crosslink in 2006, Peter was with Leapfrog Ventures (where he remained a venture partner), Knight Ridder Ventures and co-founder of Silicon Compiler Systems (acquired by Mentor Graphics in 1991).

Peter also was a regular blogger on venture capital, although it seems that all of his posts have been removed.

There is not yet any memorial or funeral service information available, but I’ll update this post when that changes. My deepest condolences to Peter’s friends and family…

UPDATE: The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 30. More details here.
