Kazushige Kobayashi has stepped down as president and CEO of Alternative Investment Capital, the Japanese private equity advisory formed in 2002 by Mitsubishi and Daido Life Insurance. This promises to be a big deal within Japan’s relatively small private equity market. An official announcement is expected shortly.

Kobayashi’s destination is Capital Dynamics, a Switzerland-based alternative investment group, where he will serve as a managing director and head of a new Tokyo office.

As for Alternative Investment Capital, the firm’s website indicates that Kobayashi’s successor is Tappei Shimizu, who has been promoted from executive vice president.
