When Carlyle Group boss David Rubenstein gives a speech, he likes to poll the audience. It was no different yesterday at the Newseum in Washington D.C., with him asking two questions:
- Will your taxes to go up next year? (most hands go up)
- Will your employer to raise your salary to offset the taxes? (only a few hands go up)
Rubenstein looked at the few lone wolfs who answered affirmatively to the second question, and realized one of them was from Carlyle Group. He then told the crowd where the prankster worked, looked at him and said: “No we won’t.”
