A hacker ported Google’s ChromeOS to an iPad in a display of what could  come from Google.

A hacker called Hexxeh, who is well known throughout the Google ChromeOS community has ported ChromeOS to natively run on the iPad, according to his blogpost (via MacStories).

NOT Steve Jobs approved

ChromeOS is designed to run on a variety of platforms, both on ARM (like the iPad) and Intel.  The first official ChromeOS netbooks are expected in the coming months from major PC manufacturers.  Rumors, which I don’t personally believe, circulated last week that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab would be updated to Chrome at some point in the future.

Windows 95 has also been ported to the iPad but it doesn’t run natively on the ARM processor.

Even though Google states that ChromeOS is designed and destined for netbooks, it isn’t hard to see the utility of running it on an tablet.

If you are looking to mess with the ChromeOS on an iPad, I profiled the new version of Parallels earlier this month. The new Parallels allows to you remotely access  a desktop version of ChromeOS on your iPad over the Internet.  It is a bit laggy, but you’ll get the gist of the ChomeOS experience on an iPad without having to do any hacking.  Video of that below:[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsmohFSzfDg&w=600&h=375]
