Google Mobile Search updated too

Lost in the hoopla of its logo and desktop search results changes today, Google also updated its mobile web search results.

iPhone and Android phone users also get a new Google search results page today, starting with English speakers and slowly rolling out to the rest of the world.

Google’s Mobile Blog details the changes, which amount to a new button on the left of the search bar that opens up a left side bar of options.  These options are remarkably similar to what desktop users will see.  Google says more parity is coming.

The most important addition on the sidebar is the ability to narrow your search by time period.

Because the mobile results are on such a small screen, however, opening the bar pushes almost half of the results off of the screen (above).   Google says that you can just pan over to get back to that content.  Since most Android 2.1 devices have larger-pixeled screens, it isn’t certain how this will translate.

Google says that they will soon be supporting more devices and locales, and expanding the number of options available.
