Yahoo is seeking another lifeline. Three years after Marissa Mayer quit Google to become CEO. The Internet company says they will layoff another 15 % of staff, in another round of cutbacks. Reporting a $ 4. 4 billion loss last quarter, Yahoo also announced an aggressive strategic plan to simplify the company. That includes raising more than one billion dollars by selling non- strategic assets. Yahoo said it will focus on it's successful global platforms, search, mail, and Tumblr, as well as on their popular media vertices, news sports, finance, and lifestyle. This plan is drastic, but there is no guarantee that it will work. Yahoo tried mass layoffs and cutbacks back in 2012. And faces a similar financial situation now. Mayor said the company is more modern now, employs for greater success going forward.
