Christophe de Margerie, the CEO of major oil company Total, died Monday in a plane accident. De Margerie's jet collided with a snowplow on the runway of an airport in Moscow. The snowplow driver was drunk at the time according to investigators, though his lawyers deny that allegation. Also under investigation are the air traffic controllers who cleared De Margerie's jet for takeoff. de Margerie took over Total, the fourth largest oil company in the world, in 2007. But he joined the company back in 1974, spending the remainder of his career moving up the ranks. Total has not yet announced de Margerie's replacement but analysts say the company has a strong pool to choose from. And the market seems to agree.
