This year's South by Southwest Interactive Festival is no different than others, in that it is huge, there is so much to see and do here in Austin, but the stuff that always stands out is the French technology, the stuff that's really pushing innovation forward, even though it might not be available in the market. So, I'm talking about drones ,. Virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and robots. For example, I'm here today in a robot petting zoo. [ MUSIC ] The big theme I'm seeing emerge from the panels is that social media is out and software eating the world is in. So we're seeing a lot of old industries like food, medicine, transportation being disrupted by software and that's what people are talking about. For example, we saw David Chang of Momofuku talking about he can use technology to make his restaurant. Strong's better. We saw Martine Roffat talking about how technology can help end things like infertility or prolong life. We saw Bill [ UNKNOWN ] and Malcolm Gladwell talking about how UBER is helping to reduce the number of automotive accidents on the road and possibly put an end to drunk driving. And there's been a lot of talk about Smart apparel which is [ MUSIC ] Just, sensors inside your clothing that talk to your smartphone. We're here on the trade show floor. And the interesting thing is, yes, there are startups here. And yes, they have cool stuff. But there's also companies like the US Postal Service and Capital One Bank, trying to show people how innovative they are. If anything, this year's conference shows that technology is not just for techies. It is taking over every industry.
