The Japanese company lost major partners in Honda, Toyota, and Ford after it was discovered that the company manufactured a faulty airbag inflator that was installed in more than 30 million cars. The inflaters were known to explode and were linked to eight deaths and close to 100 injuries. Airbags made up more than a third of the company's business which is one reason their stock price went into free fall after the scandal, dropping 40 %. Takata could also face a fine of up to 200 million dollars. And ice cream fans in the southern US were dismayed to learn that Blue Bell Creameries had to temporarily stop production after their frozen treats were linked to at least ten cases of Listeria, three of which were fatal. Though it was forced to dump about eight million gallons of ice cream, as of November Blue Bell's products are back on store shelves.
