[ MUSIC ] Geothermal is energy derived from the hot rocks under the earth. [ MUSIC ] A company will drill a well deep down into the earth. And they'll potentially tap into naturally occurring water inside. Steam, shoot it back out of the surface, and it drives electricity. So they'll put a turbine right there and it'll create electricity. If you go up to certain areas and you see steam coming up out of the ground, or geysers, or little Volcanoes or mud pots, those are natural geothermal areas. There's a new type of next generation geothermal energy that actually pumps water deep into the underground well which is kind of a futuristic way to do it. The thing about geothermal energy is that it's been kind of a holy grail untapped resource for a long time so if there's a natural occurring [ INAUDIBLE ] Geothermal hotspots like in California or Nevada. Companies are tapping into those naturally occurring places. But where there are not naturally occurring geothermal areas, the state can't tap into something that's not occurring. So that's why this next generation geothermal technology is trying to drill wells and tap into places that don't naturally have Geysers and geothermal areas in those regions. [ MUSIC ]
