[ SOUND ] Google is working on its own ride sharing app in San Francisco, and can Google compete with UBER? No, no, so Google's new ride sharing thing, it's part of the ways which is real time mapping business and it's going to allow people to Pick up users going the same way. Uber has a very similar thing with Uber pool and ideally what this would create is a world in which all cars are futuristic shared cars, but in reality what this means is it's a tech company targeting a problem that effects a very small number of people and a very small number of very big cities and even in those markets Google is going to have fierce competition from Uber and it's going to have fierce competition from public transportation, which already does this, but better. Alright, but you're not thinking big picture here. The problem with that argument is that the reason that Google is actually getting into this is because they're trying to bring robo taxi's to the streets. They've been working on self driving cars for the last seven years and they know the best way to get them out in the world is with a taxi service. Problem is they have to learn how to actually Operator taxi service and this is their way of getting in to that market. They're competing with Uber which is also working on self driving cars and Uber already understands the taxi business, so this is Google playing catch up which they should have done a long time ago We'll go text this is not amazing but culturing is kind of terrible. I have taken [ UNKNOWN ], I have taken public buses and they take a really long time. Uber's big advantage is that they have found that people would pay extra in order to have a ride that is super convenient. Right, the problem with that is that there is increasing urbanisation and that there is Increasing congestion going along with that. And so, there's some problems out there that need to be solved. There can't just be Ubers circling around waiting for you to call them all the time. I mean, the best way to solve this problem is to make the cars that are on the road more efficient, and then make them so cheap for people sharing them, that there's fewer cars on the road period. People will have to own less Cars. Okay, but is Google the company to do that? Right handling is core to Uber's DNA. Google is a digital advertising business. it's super different companies with super different competencies. Google is probably biting off more than it can chew here. That's a fair point.
