Because it's Cloud based, all it takes is a log in from a connected device and boom you're in .>> We didn't really know how to describe it for a long time. We called it software as a service. We called it platform as a service. We knew it's gonna be services over the internet that companies won't gonna have to buy software anymore. Our first Ad just said The END of SOFTWARE. We had software with a line through it, was our logo. Today we called it the cloud. And that's perhaps one of the greatest innovations, we have been able to bring. And show how the cloud could be used to run hundreds of thousands, millions of businesses, and a billion consumers online everyday. Your not gonna take on all the risk, all the complexity yourself like you did in the old days. Your just gonna subscribe like you do to a magazine or to your cable TV and you pay by the month and the risk is really balanced between you and the vendor. Today's sale force touches more than just sales. Marketers- Receives it. Companies even use it to manage their customer service and e- commerce platforms. Salesforce has grown rapidly over the last 18 years. Moving more nimbly to the cloud than older players like Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP. It's on five of Fortune's franchise lists, including the Fortune 500. It's that rapid growth Forward thinking company culture that landed sales for seat number on Fortune's Future 50 leaders list. CEO Marc Benioff got his start in tech developing video games for [ UNKNOWN ] as a teenager. Before starting Salesforce he spent 13 years at Oracle, by age 25 he was on the fast, the company's youngest ever VP. Eighteen years on, Sales Force hasn't lost a step. Benioff and his wife have also emerged as leaders in philanthropy. In 2010 they donated $ 100 million Million dollars for the creation of a new children's hospital in San Francisco. They've also given millions to schools across the Bay Area. [ MUSIC ] What will it take to change this planet we all share? [ MUSIC ] Too much, right? Well, is 1 % too much? Technology was our first innovation and business model was our second innovation, then our third model innovation was probably 1 + 1 + 1. Our idea was very simple, our business can be a platform for change and the way to do that is by taking 1 % of our equity, 1 % of our profit, and 1 % of all of our employees' time. And put it into a . org right from the beginning. Now at the time it was very easy cuz we had no people. We had no products. We had nothing. But today, with 30, 000 employees and over 10 billion in revenue, we've been able to give back at scale. So you see millions of hours of volunteerism. Hundreds of millions of dollars given, and 30, 000 nonprofits and NGOs run on our service for free. The company has also been ahead of the curve in terms of equality in the workplace. And with the introduction of Einstein, an intuitive artificial intelligence module, Salesforce has began a new chapter. It's gonna give all our customers the power of artificial intelligence. Intelligence. Which is machine intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning, right inside Salesforce's applications and also available programatically through our platform. There's no way that I could have ever seen that all the things that we said that were gonna happen have happened.
