AT and T hopes to offer phone customers in a dozen cities fifth generation service in 2018, becoming the first U. S carrier to offer the five g service. The announcement places the mobile service provider in an upgrade race with Verizon and T Mobile like it's competition at and didn't offer other details about its plans aside from detailing network grades in 23 cities and fixed wireless trials in several cities. But five G service would better serve customers looking for high tech services, including four K video and virtual reality. Still, it doesn't come cheap or easy, as engineers still need to work out kings to offer a signal that would withstand the projected demand.
