You know, more and more people these days are hearing the name Workday and they're getting to know all about your innovative products for the workplace. But still can you describe to our viewers what does work they do Where we develop software for human resources and finance functions and we support some of the world's largest organization, including more than 50% of the Fortune 500. So think about ourselves at the backbone of digital transformation, supporting financial operations, some people processes for our customers. Well, as you know, the big topic these days is the future look of the workplace and everybody is trying to figure out what are the best options for returning to the office. And as you mentioned, uh many of your customers are big Fortune 500 companies. What are ceos are telling you? And is there any consensus on the right way to do this? I think we're all thinking through it first and foremost, we're all, you know, thinking, you know, we will only be able to do it when it is safe for our employees to do so. Right. Most of the Ceos, I talked to their thinking on this along the lines of this hybrid environment. They're thinking, you know, we're going to have the office for the moments that matter, right? Those that are mainly for networking collaboration and innovation. Well, at work day, you are embracing this hybrid model as a workplace expert. Do you think Hybrid is going to be the new business model of the future. I think hybrid will be the new business model of the future? If you ask my, my personal opinion is just like companies will be doing you know differently? We believe that some companies, it might be mostly remote and they might work well for them, but still even those that potentially will say it's going to be all remote. I know they're thinking of having different events during the year to get you know, some networking and collaboration and get together within their teams. Is that going to be taking place on our outfits or is that going to be taking place offside? I guess those are things that they're, they're thinking about it right. But many of the companies are just really trying to find what is the right mix for, you know, who we are as a company, my identity, my culture and what do I want to achieve and you know, how do I think that I can keep and retain the best time? Well, another trend we're seeing is now that so many companies are pivoting to this hybrid type of workplace that they're downsizing their office spaces and they're working with smaller staff in what ways do workdays tools Help businesses to be more productive, efficient and nimble even with less people. Yeah, it allows companies to be much more efficient, much better than 100 in their process and a more automated way, much better getting insights and visibility of making it smarter deficient around their people or their financial. So the answer is get that. So by using workdays tools, do companies still need a large staff for things like audit finance, human resources or do your products really simplify all those functions? The products do simplify those functions to see, but you know, we want to help people to focus on what they really matter and they make a difference. So for example when you think about machine learning artificial intelligence, we all talk about these days right, there are many automated tasks and input that you know the machines will do better but when it comes to judgment and to making decisions we feel human beings, you know, are much better place to do. So you recently announced plans to increase your workforce by 20% over the next two years adding 2500 new hires and you're increasing office locations not only in the U. S. But around europe. That sounds like a very positive action plan. Why are you so confident there's a good market outlook for us and the solutions we provide to our customers again, as the companies are becoming more digitally savvy, we play a key role there as companies are helping or asking us to help them transform there are people and their financials and with our cloud needed solutions we can do and support them there and we see some of those trends accelerating, right? So we're increasing spaces on offices that we do have today and we're, you know, selecting other places where we certainly have ambitious plans for those locations and and we still believe that why remote work is is great and has worked very nicely through the pandemic with the technology we have today helping us out to be very productive and efficient, you know, for those moments that matter, collaborating at the offices space is very important. Right? So we need to ensure we want to ensure that we're able to provide our employees those great working environment that they can really get the best possible innovation for our customers. You recently wrote in a blog that great talent is core to our success at work day. Do you feel pressure in finding talented people especially as you begin this big hiring push? I think susie the competition for talent is definitely out there, right? And it's not easy these days, so you you have to really be an attractive option to those talent to that talent out there for them to join your company. Right? We believe that in workday and our appeal to a great culture and great technology innovation provides a good environment for who we are and people to join and develop their careers here. Well, on the flip side, what are you doing to hold on to your most talented workers as you know, people are on the move, they're taking new jobs and they're looking for new opportunities. What we're doing is try to stick to our core values that that have been guiding on the first of our core values is our employees and we really look to take great care of our employees. We believe that happy employees will deliver happy customers on top of that. Of course you need to ensure that there is good career opportunities and growth companies usually that's the case and then we, we appeal to a great mix between culture and innovation. So if we're able to create a context and environment, were they happy to work with their peers and develop that that is a good recipe, You've also said that one of your goals is to double the number of black and Latino leaders um by 2023, why is this so important to the success of your company? First and foremost, it is very important that we are able to create opportunities for all of course within that whole, we know that there are certain populations that are under served under represented and we need mostly and double down focusing on those. Right? So we are clearly, you know, really keen to increase our diverse talent around black latin X and clearly asian population during the course of the next few years and we test and target when that brings to us as a company is a much more diverse view, rich of opinions and disability of different matters and topics that are important to us as a company and certainly a much better and healthier environment overall channel. It's been one year since you became co ceo of workday. What are you finding is the key to being a successful leader when you're sharing that top job? I would say with mostly intel's for me until trust and then tells hopefully no evil or very low eagle. Um and then you know clear side of responsibilities and it's possible friendship when those characteristics are there. You know this is great I think for the company and ourselves because we support each other sometimes as a ceo there are 70% of things you cannot share with anyone else right? What you're thinking about and it's good to someone else to bring the store with and share those key strategic decision sort of company. You're long and successful career. You have worked at many outstanding companies like Mackenzie like ASAP and I'm sure you've had wonderful mentors along the way. What's the best leadership advice you ever received and how is it guiding you now that you're at work day? I would say this very simple one is focused on doing the right things and with a long term view right? If you do the right things for your employees, if you do the right things for your customers to rest, most likely is gonna come right. So I try to always think I'm doing the right things and start thinking I'm really guided and managed by our core values. And then is this on the best interests of our employees and our customers at every single point in time?</p>
