When people think of IMAX, they think of a big movie experience. So tell us what are some of the big blockbusters that are gonna be coming out soon. Marvel has Captain America: Civil War, part of that was shot with IMAX cameras. Star Trek is another movie coming out. Of course Star Wars: Rogue One is coming out later in the year. Many others a good year Well Star Wars was a fantastic Blockbuster for you. Are any of these movies that you've mentioned gonna be that kind of degree? I mean Star Wars is the second largest IMAX movie ever. We did 220 million, surpassed only by Avatar. So you can't predict that kind of a breakup. But I think a lot of them, I think the next Star Wars World 1 is gonna be quite big. I think Marvel's Captain America also includes Robert Downey Jr. and it includes Spider Manning it so it's almost like a mini Avengers kind of movie. So I think there are a bunch of them that can be pretty big. You had an amazing year last year. You did $ 1 billion in the box office, that's up 60 % from the previous year, how does this year look? How's it shaping up? I think it's a good year also. If you look year to date we're up significantly over where we were. Last year, we look at it as a portfolio though. So you can't. A quarter is very hard to generalize for the year. Some movies which you don't see as big as they are like Dead Pool, which was out in Februrary. W ethought it would be big, but it turned out to be really big. If you look at over the last five years, we've averaged very close to 1. 1 million a year. You could draw a little circle around that each year because of this portfolio theory. So yeah. I think we'll be within that range this year, but I think exactly where it's going to be. Predicting movies, Susie is like predicting stocks. Good luck. Obviously you're doing really, really well, but what's your take on the consumer? You do have to pay more To go see this IMAX movies, do you get any sense that they might want to hold back because of tight budget? It's not like you are going on a trip abroad or you're buying a new car. It's what we call an affordable luxury. So especially in times where the economy is not growing and people aren't throwing money around, they probably would cut back on other things but the extra $ 3 or 4 in whatever country it is To go feel that sense of escapism and feel like you're the closest thing to another world. We haven't really seen much resistance. What about the impact of things like a Netflix movies, binge watching, enormous flat screen TVs that you can have right in your own living room. Does any of this worry you that You know people are not going to be as compelled to go into an Imax theater. Actually it works the opposite way. We used to have sort of a corny slogan internally that said for every Iphone you need more Imax. And the reason we say that is people are social animals. They don't want to just chain themselves to the couch and. You know sit in their living room and watch on their small mobile device. They really want a social experience which the movies offers and I think with imax you not only get a social experience but you get a very immersive To have experience. You know, obviously there's so, much competition for people's attention. So, what do you think it's gonna take? What kind of innovation to get people to have a special movie experience? We trying keep evolving our own technology so, we've just introduce a new laser projection system would looks even better than digital We're filming more things with their cameras and I think they'll be new uses of theater so e sports are now seen at the number movie theater. The opera has been experiment that with them work. We showed episodes of games of thrones in IMAX theaters And that worked well and I think new technologies is the other part of it. So at some point things like virtual reality will offer different experiences in theaters. So a combination of new takes on content and new technology. [ BLANK_AUDIO ]
