I think that given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to governing after weeks the will he or won't he new york state governor Andrew cuomo has resigned, giving his two weeks notice. What does that mean going forward? It means that lieutenant governor Kathy, how local will be taking charge and finishing the rest of his term, which ends in 2022. Now. Little is known about Kathy hotel. She kind of stood in the background of of comas bright light than the diligent worker. She's visited all 62 counties on numerous occasions. She's been a fundraiser. She's supported women. We want to run for office behind the scenes, but she's not really a household name. In fact what people don't even know how to pronounce her last name. So here's what we do know and you know that she is the first female governor of new york state in all of its 277 year history. We also know that she is the first governor from upstate in over 100 years. There's been a lot of representation from the downstate area, which is new york city and its surrounding suburbs. But she's from Buffalo, new york, which is a very different kind of place. It's much more moderate, more conservative and that will be reflected in her politics going forward. Another first is that new york, Senate majority leader Andrea Stewart cousins will replace her as lieutenant governor, which means for the first time, few women will be in the position of governor and lieutenant governor Kathy hopeful 62 she's had a long career in politics. She's been a council member up in Buffalo for a very long time. And after that she was elected to be the eerie county clerk. She actually got sent to Congress for less than a term, ironically enough, it was because Representative lee was caught in a scandal where he was soliciting women on craigslist and had to resign. She ended up winning his feet in a very conservative district, but then did not win reelection. And that was that national momentum is what brought her to the attention of Governor CUomo and had him bring her on a lieutenant governor. It's hard to say what a Kathy hopeful administration look like because she's such a mystery to new Yorkers at this point. But we know that she has a huge focus on small business. We know that she's going to encourage other women to run for office. Uh, and we know that she's going to focus on upstate New York, which is something that governors in the past and kind of ignored what that means for downstate is yet to be seen as that area was the most affected by COVID-19 and continues to be. But what we do know about her is that she is very good at bridging a gap between conservative voters and Democratic voters. She's actually run for office in four different parties, whereas governors in the past were pushed by more progressive movements that have dominated the state legislature, that have pushed through things like rent forgiveness and, you know, student loan forgiveness. She might not be as open to that now. We know that her term ends at the end of 2022. That doesn't give her a long time. So she might be beginning to launch her re election campaign as we speak, we see that she has brought on two big Senate advisors who worked with other campaigns, but she has to make herself known to downstate voters. And she has to appeal to some of the more progressive figures that she wants to get reelected Kathy hopeful taking over as governor of new york state really marks the end of an era. It's the end of a dynasty. Cuomo's father also served as governor for three terms. They both had aspirations to be in the White House and it didn't work out for them. This is a new niece and it is at least so many new beginnings for female, the first up state governor in a very long time. And so what's going to happen remains to be seen. But we know it's gonna be incredibly different and we know that new york state was asking for change and that's what they got.
