 ROBERT HACKETT: Fortune is proud to unveil the 2020 40 under 40 list. This year we're doing five separate lists divided by different industries. We decided to honor 200 people in total this year rather than the usual 40, because there are just so many stars throughout industry that deserve recognition. I was in charge of putting together the technology list this year, because of the coronavirus pandemic has so many people across the world sheltered in place, sheltered at home, we looked for people who are building connections between people using technology. This year, those who made the list submitted videos of themselves answering a variety of questions. One question that was interesting and telling for those on the tech list was "What's your favorite productivity tip?" GOD-IS RIVERA: I must see all of the tasks in all of the projects and responsibilities in one place, so that I can be as efficient and fluid and agile as possible. KRISTIN SCHAEFER: My advice here is really to prioritize ruthlessly, and for me, this has been a necessity especially recently. I believe you have to focus on the important stuff, the things that have the highest impact. ERIN L. THOMAS: Ask why? Ask yourself why? Ask the people around you why? Because we go through life often very reflexively, not really focusing on why we're performing the actions that we're performing or what the greater goals are? SUSY SHONEBERG: Personally I found that I'm most productive is actually I want to do something. I'm really asking myself about the why behind the task. I'm also getting me really excited if I know that by doing something I have the opportunity to learn and to pick up or improve a new skill. FALON FATEMI: My most productive days is when I've taken care of myself and I've been really thoughtful and conscious about what my body needs, and then that's really shown through in terms of my quality of work and the volume in which I can execute as well. MARISSA GUISTINA: Productivity tip. Close your email. If you really want to get something done, just close your email. ELIZABETH HAMON REID: My favorite productivity tip is actually Gmail snooze. I use it pretty obsessively. I do that a lot. I get hundreds and hundreds of emails a day. I also use it to ensure that other people follow up on things that are critical. I can do it and see the progress made and then come back to it. REBECCA LIPON WEEKLY: Every morning, I sit down. The very first thing I do is I write down the top three things that will make the day great that needs to get done. OBI OZOR: Making sure you are executed as your thinking about, don't actually procrastinate. So I am not a believer that you should have a lot of things on your schedule. STEVE HUFFMAN: Just do it. I think I've been a procrastinator for much of my life, and it's a lot easier to just do it. STEVE MARTOCCI: The things that make my day easier is when I have a team that understands their mission and vision, and I can trust them to go with their jobs and be responsible for their demands. VANESSA GUTHRIE: It is so easy to be over scheduled and be on video conference back to back the whole day that to actually make time to think. That to me has actually been one of the things that has been highly productive during this time. TRANG-THIEN TRAIN: During this time, it was easy to always behind and stay on a computer, but a tip for all and what I had to remind myself each workday is to turn off the computer and step away. LUCAS JOPPA: To simply not be distracted by the noise. The amount of news and the speed at which information is reaching us can be overwhelming at times, at least it can be overwhelming for me, and so during my workday, I just focused on work. CARMELA TRONCOSO: I encourage people to actually enjoy life. When you enjoy life, your brain is fresh, your brain is free, and it is much easier to be creative and productive. [MUSIC PLAYING]
