The fortune crypto 40 list is a first of its kind. It's a ranking of the leading most important companies in the crypto industry. No one's produced a list like this before. And it relies heavily on empirical methods and surveys to create and recognize the most important companies in the industry. People have asked me, why are you doing a crypto list? Don't you know what's happening in the industry, prices collapsing and scams and so on. I think that's a real minority of what the crypto industry is all about. I'm not gonna lie. The last year has been disaster. It's crypto is worst year ever. However, even after that, crypto is much bigger than it was even at the height of the big boom of 2017 and has already come back a lot from its big setbacks last year for every, you know, Charlotte and criminal out there. There are people working hard building real companies. And the point of this list is to underscore that this industry is here to stay. And the companies on this list are ones that are contributing to the industry and are going to be here for a while. So what we did is recognize these eight distinct areas of crypto business and created a methodology for each of them and rank them according the trad traditional finance that's composed of companies like JP Morgan and paypal. There's the C five category that's crypto native companies stands for centralized finance and that includes the likes of coin base circle and finance. Finance is probably the most controversial company in crypto. Right now. They're facing pretty aggressive investigations from the US government. Most recently allegations that they turned a blind eye to money laundering and help people evade their own know your customer laws that said finance, you know, is by far the biggest, most important crypto company in the world. That's the reason they finished. Number two, not number one is simply the reputational risk they're facing venture capital, pretty self explanatory V C firms. But ones that invest in crypto, we also have N F T s. They're kind of a niche with any crypto, but a big one on their own win are there is open, see the biggest platform but also recognizes studios. They're building art and collectibles and investment around N F T s. But more technical categories like infrastructure companies that are building through the supplies, you know, software and some cases, hardware that support the rest of the industry names on that list include Ledger, which makes hardware wallets to keep your crypto secure and alchemy, which provides as nodes and other tools that help companies connect to the Blockchain data. And that's simply companies that parse all this wealth of Blockchain information package. It make it understandable protocols. This is an interesting category. These are legal entities, most of the time associated with a protocol like Bitcoin, like Ethereum, Arbitron and Polygon. These are all basically blockchains or Blockchain complements supported by companies or nonprofits or foundations that built them up. Aum Foundation wins. The protocol category theorem is by far the most used popular Blockchain and has got fantastic army of developers that was a key criteria for this category. And finally, we have D five decentralized finance, which is, you know, the kind of frontier of crypto trading making money all without human intervention in the middle. And one of that category you're going to swap, which pioneered automated market making. We're not here to cheer people on. We're simply here to evaluate who's doing what that said. It's still hard not to be impressed by the ambition of a lot of these projects. They've raised a lot of money and they're building truly new technology and to try to reinvent the internet. The thing I think people need to know is crypto is here for good. I think some of the companies on this year's inaugural list are gonna be here in 10 years as well.
