CCS, Venezuela, July 28, 2026 (EZ Newswire) -- On Wednesday, June 24, Venezuela suffered two consecutive large-magnitude earthquakes (7.2 and 7.5). The impact was concentrated heavily in Caracas and the central coast, primarily in the State of La Guaira, causing the collapse of multiple buildings and severe human and material losses. The provisional official toll reports 1,430 fatalities and 3,238 injuries. Furthermore, authorities count 3,142 affected people and at least 1,423 damaged infrastructures.

In the most affected areas, including the State of La Guaira, Greater Caracas (Chacao and Palos Grandes), and El Libertador Municipality (San Bernardino, Casco Central, and El Junquito), many communities already face a high housing deficit and precarious infrastructure, which multiplies the impact of the earthquake on families. Currently, some regions lack electricity, water, and internet access.

Immediate Response

Since the afternoon of the disaster, the TECHO team has been fully active in the territory. With a permanent presence in Venezuela and prior experience in humanitarian responses, our central commitment is to the direct execution of actions and to ensuring total transparency in accountability to society and affected communities.

TECHO is currently in Stage 1 of its plan, preparing to advance to Stage 2:

  • Current actions: Local volunteers are supporting the tasks of receiving, classifying, and managing the logistics of essential donations.
  • Equipment sent: Thanks to the support of La Wawa, it has sent key equipment for rescue tasks, such as helmets and face masks.
  • Damage assessment: TECHO is assessing the territorial situation through a form and digital mapping with community leaders to determine the priority communities to address.

The Post-Emergency Action Plan

To ensure efficient and sustainable reconstruction, TECHO will implement its response structured in four consecutive stages. The plan begins with local mobilization, focused on the classification and loading of donations, the preparation of personal backpacks and supplies, training for volunteers, mapping affected areas, and collecting secondary information.

This is followed by initial deployment, which aims to gather reliable on-the-ground information through field reconnaissance, prioritize communities, and mobilize volunteers to conduct surveys in the disaster zone, as well as the subsequent tabulation and analysis of the collected data.

The third stage consists of housing construction, in which emergency housing solutions will be implemented in the prioritized zones based on the diagnoses obtained, working within an articulated network to develop viable habitability alternatives.

Finally, the post-implementation stage will be dedicated to monitoring and evaluation through housing satisfaction surveys, technical reviews of the provided structures, and the definition of a long-term institutional strategy.

“We have a validated model for the construction of emergency housing and progressive housing modules designed to provide a rapid and dignified response to families who have lost everything. Although rescue and immediate care teams currently have absolute priority on the ground, we are preparing strongly for the reconstruction stage, an area where our international experience in disaster relief calls us to act with total determination,” said Gabriela Arrastua, TECHO’s Director of Operations.

International Fundraising Campaign: How to Help

TECHO has opened a donation channel to support the country’s reconstruction. The financial support collected will be channeled directly to the reconstruction phase, prioritizing two urgent lines of action:

  • Housing solutions: Rapid-installation modules for families facing exposure or imminent risk
  • Repair kits: Supplies for roofs and structures for homes with partial but recoverable damage

To channel the solidarity aid from the diaspora and the international community, the following contribution channels have been enabled:

  • From anywhere in the world: Online donations through the official website at techo.org/emergencia-venezuela.
  • From the United States: Bank transfer to checking account No. 8415755043 of AMERICAN FRIENDS OF UN TECHO PARA MI PAIS, INC. DBA TECHO (Routing Number RTN: 063107513 for direct deposit / 121000248 for wire transfers).
  • From Venezuela: Bank transfer to checking account No. 0104 0018 01 0180107924 of Banco Venezolano de Crédito in the name of UN TECHO PARA MÍ PAÍS VENEZUELA AC (Ref. J 311058834). Also available via Pago Móvil to the number 0412-635.89.11 (Ref. J 311058834).

Techo aims to activate its global network to reach more families. Donating is a way to be present; sharing this information is too.
