MCKINNEY, TX, September 9, 2026 (EZ Newswire) -- ScienceSoft has published a prediction article based on its proprietary research into the adoption of predictive AI-powered wearables among older adults. ScienceSoft forecasts that by 2030, around 40% of people aged 55 and older may use wearable devices powered by predictive AI to flag warning signs of serious health conditions. These could include both medical devices and consumer wearables, such as smartwatches. Rather than diagnosing conditions or automatically triggering emergency services, such devices could prompt users and caregivers to seek timely clinical evaluation.

ScienceSoft’s research team assessed wearable adoption and ownership trends, barriers to use among older adults, the accuracy of wearable health measurements, and the applicability of machine learning to health risk prediction. AARP reported in 2026 that 36% of U.S. adults aged 50 and older owned a wearable device, suggesting that the technology already has a substantial adoption base. A 2025 study from the American Journal of Preventative Cardiology that used Fitbit and electronic health record data also showed that machine learning could predict all-cause hospitalization and cardiovascular risks with reliable accuracy. ScienceSoft predicts that adoption will grow gradually; however, device cost, usability, measurement reliability, privacy, and the ability to turn wearable data into clinically meaningful alerts remain key constraints.

ScienceSoft expects predictive wearables to develop primarily as a complement to clinical care, helping identify potentially concerning changes between medical appointments. For older adults and caregivers, this could mean earlier signals that professional evaluation may be needed. Healthcare providers could gain more continuous visibility into patient health and opportunities to intervene before some conditions worsen. Wearable manufacturers, medical device companies, and healthtech vendors could in turn see growing demand for accessible devices, validated predictive models, and infrastructure that securely connects wearable and clinical data — but their ability to limit unnecessary alerts and earn the trust of patients and clinicians will be critical.
