Combining global expertise, advanced technologies, major stakeholder investments, and landmark partnerships, Alat is building a sustainable manufacturing hub from scratch in Saudi Arabia.
The rules of global trade are changing. With green energy on the rise, supply chain resilience and long-term competitiveness have become strategic priorities.
Alat is at the forefront of Saudi Arabia’s industrial transformation, meeting market demand, advancing next-generation manufacturing, and building resilient supply chains. Through strategic global partnerships anchored in sustainable, clean-energy solutions, Alat is enabling the Kingdom’s rise as a global hub for high-tech, sustainable industrial production.
“We believe the Kingdom can play an important role in [shaping] future industries,” says Amit Midha, CEO of Alat, which was founded in 2024 to transform global industries by creating a world-class manufacturing hub
As part of Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s long-term strategic plan for socioeconomic development, Alat is working to reshape the Saudi economy, transforming and advancing industrial sectors such as electronics & industrials, renewable energy, and precision manufacturing by decarbonizing production with clean energy. The company has the expertise, human capital, and robust financial capabilities to do it: With significant long-term capital committed, Alat is positioned to accelerate industrial innovation and deliver transformative impact
“The Kingdom provides us with a sustainable, purpose-driven manufacturing ecosystem, at the heart of global trade routes,” Midha says. “We’re just getting started.”
Manufacturing to meet the moment
Headquartered in Riyadh, the Kingdom’s capital and the largest city in the Middle East, Alat’s convenient location is unmatched. “We’re a three-hour flight away from more than 2 billion consumers, which is the new and growing middle class,” Midha says. “This [proximity] enables rapid access, efficient distribution, and global reach.”
But its geographic advantage is just one of many. Midha explains that with the rapid advancement of AI, the demand for clean energy will exponentially increase. “Automation requires cheaper and cleaner energy,” he says. “That’s exactly where our strength is.” As part of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia has committed to sourcing 50% of its power from renewable sources and is paving the way to its net-zero emissions target by 2060. Alat’s mandate is to harness the Kingdom’s abundant solar, wind, and green hydrogen energy—as well as the Kingdom’s robust pool of talent.
“What makes Alat unique is that we’re a startup,” says Ziad Al-Labban, chief manufacturing and operations officer. “The guiding principle is making Saudi manufacturing meet the demand of the world and take advantage of our locality. We’re not constrained by the old biases and ecosystems of the past. We’re building from scratch.” This fresh approach is evident in the company’s workforce: Through agreements with the Kingdom’s universities and technical institutes, Alat is leveraging Saudi Arabia’s tech-savvy youth (the average age of the Saudi Arabian population is just below 30). By 2030, Alat expects to have created 40,000 direct jobs within the Kingdom.
“We have a bold vision and we’re bringing in the best talent from across the world,” Midha says. “Together, all of these things create a potent force for amazing things to come.”
Forging brighter futures through global partnerships
Becoming a leader in global manufacturing requires a diverse blend of expertise within and beyond the Kingdom. “To partner with entities all over the world, we have to have a workforce that is also international,” says Al-Labban. “It has to be open-minded and has to leverage both the Saudi and international way of doing things.” The company’s talent pool is 65% Saudi and 35% international, encompassing 26 different nationalities.
Nearly one-third of this workforce is female. “This new era of manufacturing is different,” says Suha Alyami, senior adviser to Alat’s CEO. “It is no longer male-dominant or manual. It’s being transformed by automation, AI, and clean tech. That means rethinking, reskilling, and creating space for everyone to lead.”
At the heart of this transformation is Alat’s landmark partnership with Lenovo—a global technology powerhouse that has more than 30 industry-leading manufacturing sites in 11 markets around the world. Lenovo is highly regarded for its supply chain excellence, consistently featuring as one of the world’s top supply chains, across all industries. The strategic collaboration signals the Kingdom’s readiness to work with world-class technology leaders to shape the future of sustainable manufacturing. It underscores Saudi Arabia’s growing ecosystem of skilled talent and advanced infrastructure capable of delivering next-generation hardware.
In February 2025, Alat and Lenovo broke ground on a landmark manufacturing facility that will produce millions of Lenovo laptops and desktops every year, as well as servers. The factory is designed as a model of sustainable, next-generation industrial production, expecting to create 15,000 direct jobs and up to 45,000 indirect jobs, making it a significant pillar of Vision 2030. “This is more than a factory. It’s a movement,” Midha says. “We laid the groundwork for a smart, sustainable industrial future. [This partnership] demonstrates global belief in Saudi Arabia’s potential to lead in advanced manufacturing.”
“The partnership with Lenovo is bigger than a single factory line,” Alyami agrees. “When you see a ‘Made in Saudi’label on those devices, it tells you that the next generation of advanced industry has a home here.”
