Looking for a stress-free way to build your savings? A certificate of deposit (CD) is a popular option that comes with minimal risk and requires minimal maintenance. You’ll typically earn a higher annual percentage yield (APY) than if you stored your money in a conventional savings account—but know that with a CD, you can’t access your money for a predetermined period. If you do, you’ll be penalized.

UMB Bank offers several CD options. Generally speaking, only UMB’s “featured” CDs are worth a look. Its standard CD APYs are trounced by many of the best certificates of deposit offered by competitors (we’ll compare them in a minute).

Let’s look at UMB Bank’s CD rates to help you decide if its account options suit your financial goals.

Rates are current as of Jan. 2, 2026 and are subject to change.

UMB Bank CD rates and products

UMB Bank issues multiple CD types, including featured, standard, and jumbo CDs. There are no specialty options such as flexible or IRA CDs, unfortunately. UMB also offers business CDs that come with similar term lengths and minimum opening deposit requirements. It lists few details beyond that, requiring you to connect with a banker to begin setting up your account.

UMB Bank only allows you to open CDs online if your deposit is under six figures. Amounts of $100,000 or more must be opened in-branch.

UMB doesn’t disclose any early withdrawal penalties, instead stating that you’ll discover the fee after requesting your withdrawal. This is a stunning disadvantage that may discourage many from investing money with UMB.

Featured CDs

UMB offers two extremely competitive featured CD term lengths, each offering more than 4.00% APY. But to open them, you’ll need to deposit at least $5,000.

Standard CDs

UMB standard CDs come in nine term lengths, from three months to six years.

Standard CDs are much more accessible, requiring a minimum opening deposit of $500. The tradeoff is generally inferior returns for your money.

Jumbo CDs

Jumbo CDs at UMB are accounts of $100,000 or above. These cannot be opened online—so you’ll have to visit a UMB branch to do it.

That said, its terms and APYs are identical to standard CDs as of this writing. Many other banks may reward you for large CD deposits with a higher return rate, but UMB offers no additional value for its jumbo options.

Compare UMB Bank to competitors

UMB Bank offers a couple CD terms with impressive earning rates—but for the most part, you can likely earn more interest by storing your savings elsewhere. Here’s a look at UMB Bank CD rates compared to two other options for those comfortable with online banking.
