Innovation in Europe is thriving and Fortune is, once again, shining a spotlight on the companies leading the charge.

Fortune, in partnership with global data and research firm Statista, is now searching for Fortune Europe’s Most Innovative Companies 2026. This definitive ranking recognizes 300 organizations that are reinventing their industries through bold ideas, cutting-edge products, smarter processes, and cultures that empower creativity.

Following the successful launch of the inaugural list in 2025—featuring innovation leaders such as L’Oréal, Unilever, Rolls-Royce, Philips, and GSK—the 2026 ranking will continue to showcase Europe as a global innovation powerhouse.

View last year’s list here.

Apply to be considered for the list.

While Statista conducts an independent assessment, company registrations are strongly encouraged to help create the most complete and representative overview of innovation across Europe. You have a unique opportunity to submit your company for consideration by completing this online form.

The deadline to apply is March 15, 2026.

Being featured on Fortune Europe’s Most Innovative Companies list offers high-profile visibility on Fortune.com, recognition from one of the world’s most trusted business brands, and an opportunity to benchmark your innovation performance against leading companies across industries and countries.

What defines innovation?

Innovation takes many forms. It can emerge from:

  • Research and development teams creating breakthrough products
  • Operational excellence that transforms efficiency and sustainability
  • Leaders who cultivate collaboration, experimentation, and entrepreneurial thinking

This ranking captures innovation in all its forms, across industries, markets, and company cultures.

How the ranking is built

Statista independently evaluates thousands of European companies with more than 250 employees using a robust, data-driven methodology built on three, equally weighted pillars:

  1. Product Innovation

An assessment of products and services, including design, usability, uniqueness, and market appeal. Scores are informed by IP portfolio analysis as well as feedback from experts and (potential) customers.

  1. Process Innovation

An evaluation of how companies innovate across their operations—from sourcing and production to marketing, sales, and customer support. Insights from employees, industry experts, and customers are incorporated.

  1. Innovation Culture

A measure of how effectively companies foster creativity, entrepreneurship, and idea-implementation internally. Employee feedback plays a central role, complemented by perspectives from external experts such as recruiters and HR specialists.

Each pillar accounts for one-third of the total score, ensuring a balanced and comprehensive view of innovation.

The final ranking will be published on Fortune.com later this year. Visit Fortune’s editorial calendar for updates on the publication date.
