Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is in Moscow to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and other Russian officials on Monday.
Tillerson and Russian officials reportedly plan to discuss Ukraine, counterterrorism efforts, bilateral relations and other issues, including North Korea and Syria, the Associated Press reports.
The trip comes just days after the U.S. launched a missile strike against a Syrian air base in retaliation for the chemical weaspons attack the U.S. believes President Bashar Assad’s government ordered on the town of Khan Sheikhoun. Russia condemned the U.S. attack, calling it an “aggression against a sovereign state in violation of international law.”
