Will Facebook’s ‘Disputed’ Tag Be Effective Against the Spread of Fake News?

In our latest episode of Tech Debate, Fortune digital editor Andrew Nusca debates with writer Jeff John Roberts on Facebook’s latest feature, the “disputed” tag. On Friday, Facebook has quietly launched a “disputed” tag, which appears beneath news stories that are deemed fake.

According to Facebook, users will now be able to report a post as “It’s a fake news story,” and the flagged stories will be reviewed by independent third-party fact-checkers such as Politifact and Following this review, stories that are found to be inaccurate will be designated with the “disputed” tag.
