On Monday morning, Donald Trump escalated his ongoing feud with Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, calling their show “unwatchable,” and the female anchor “not very bright.”

He then went on to threaten to tell the “real story” of Scarborough and “his very insecure long-time girlfriend” Brzezinski.

The impetus for Trump’s current japes seems to be Monday morning’s show, during which Brzezinski mocked his speech in Fredericksburg over the weekend. “He belted like, honestly… like he’s had a lot to drink,” she said.

But the feud between the MSNBC hosts and the GOP nominee is nothing new. Two weeks ago, Scarborough penned a scathing editorial in the Washington Post in which he wrote that Trump “has left the Republican Party few options but to act decisively and get this political train wreck off the tracks before something terrible happens.”

Scarborough responded to Trump’s comments Monday with a series of tweets, including a tongue-in-cheek “thank you” for watching the show and boosting its ratings.

While Scarborough has been on the Republican’s bad side in recent weeks, he hasn’t always been so anti-Trump. Back in May, the TV personality defended the real estate mogul after the New York Times published the results of an investigation into how he behaved with women.

The relationship between Scarborough and Brzezinski has long been the subject of scrutiny, with rumor magazine The Daily Caller claiming that the female anchor’s recent divorce will allow the pair go public with their alleged romance.
