Mornings may never be the same again.
Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan, co-hosts of Live! With Kelly and Michael, are unlikely to do another show together, an unnamed source told People. “Anything is possible, but that doesn’t seem like a viable option. Practically, it’s a different dynamic now,” said the source.
On Tuesday, ABC announced that Strahan would be leaving Live! to for a new role on Good Morning America. Strahan has been Ripa’s co-host for four years and has been appearing twice a week on GMA for the past two. In September, he will be joining the network’s top morning show full-time.
The day after the announcement, Ripa did not appear on the show, causing speculation that she was protesting the network out of anger at the way she was informed of Strahan’s departure: She reportedly wasn’t told about Strahan’s plans until just a few minutes before they were announced to the public, according to People.
Ripa is due to return to the show next Tuesday, but it is unclear if she will do so, says People‘s source. Fortune has reached out to ABC for comment and will update this story if company representatives respond.
