Walgreens (WAG) has halted the sale of certain lots of fruit products that could be dangerous to the consumer.
The Nice! brand jarred fruit may contain fragments of glass, according to a recall notice on the FDA’s website. Milky Way International Trading Corporation, the company that distributes the product, issued a voluntary recall out of “an abundance of caution” after a customer complained about finding glass in one of the affected products.
The fruit products are packaged in 8 ounce glass jars. The recall applies to sliced peaches in light syrup with an expiration date of Dec. 15, 2017, and mixed fruit in light syrup set to expire on Dec. 8, 2017. The one customer complaint that Milky Way International Trading received was regarding the peaches; there have so far been no complaints about the mixed fruit.
The Nice! brand products had been distributed to and sold at Walgreens stores nationwide, though the recall states that they have since been taken off of shelves.
Neither Walgreens nor Milky Way International Trading could immediately be reached for comment.
