After 15 years of discovering the next star, American Idol is shutting off its lights Thursday, airing its last episode at 8 pm EST on Fox. Worldwide sensations from Kelly Clarkson to Carrie Underwood owe much of their success to the show, as does host Ryan Seacrest.
