A story published today in the National Enquirer alleges that Ted Cruz has had affairs with up to five different woman, and both major candidates still running for the Republican nomination are speaking up about it.

Cruz spoke first, calling the allegations “garbage” and alleging that “henchmen” of Donald Trump planted the story. He specifically cited Trump adviser Roger Stone, the only named source in the story.

Trump then fought back with a statement claiming that he had not seen the story and saying that he did not employ “henchmen.” He also noted that while the National Enquirer had actually gotten stories correct in the past, he hoped they hadn’t in this case:

This is just the latest round in an increasingly personal battle between Cruz and Trump. This week most of the combat has centered on their wives Melania Trump and Heidi Cruz. The next major state to vote is Wisconsin on April 5.
