President Obama, known for his competitive streak on the basketball court, officially revealed his March Madness bracket this week and pegged Kansas to sweep the top title.
Obama has shared his NCAA bracket every year while in office and even correctly named North Carolina to win the 2009 tournament in the first year of his presidency, reported ESPN. However, that may have been beginner presidential luck because he hasn’t selected the correct winner since.
This is the third time Obama has picked Kansas to win the college tournament. This year, he has the team facing off against Michigan State in the final round. He also predicted that Texas A&M and the University of North Carolina will make it to the Final Four.
Obama primarily went for more established basketball programs to progress with only a few upsets in the early rounds, including his home state Hawaii beating Cal.
“I have a tendency to pick programs, but I think that may just be an accident this year,” Obama told ESPN. “There are some teams out there that are from the mid-majors that I think are high-quality teams, but they may not have the right matchup this year.”
