Bernie Sanders Wins in Kansas

Bernie Sanders won the Democratic caucuses in Kansas, according to the state party, the first result to be announced in a slate of three Democratic contests held on Saturday.

On Super Tuesday, Sanders won in nearby Oklahoma. Both Kansas and Oklahoma have small African American populations, which is seen as a positive for Sanders. Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, has gained significant support from the black community, and she has won big in southern states like South Carolina and Georgia.

The Democratic candidates will debate on Sunday evening in Flint, Michigan, which votes on Tuesday and will be a critical primary state for the party’s nomination.
