What do you get when you put a power-hungry Donald Trump in a power-hungry TV show?
You get a hilarious parody of the Republican presidential candidate, whose talking head was superimposed on a number of characters from the hit HBO TV series Game of Thrones.
Insiders, an ABC political news show helmed by satirist Huw Parkinson, has long used video mashups that meld pop culture references and skewered politicians into entertaining bits. Last year, Parkinson won a prestigious Walkley Award for Excellence in Journalism for his videos that presented political hot topics in a humorous manner.
Among his videos include using Star Wars to spotlight a local politician’s famous words, and using Seinfeld to highlight the inner workings of the Australian Parliament.
His latest video, labeled “Winter is Trumping,” plants Trump inside Westeros. And eerily, the billionaire seems at home in his new surroundings.
Among the Trumpian quotes that fit very nicely in Game of Thrones include telling Jon Snow: “We need people that know what they’re doing. We don’t need babies.” He also reaffirms the Night’s Watch’s job by emphasizing: “We need to build a wall.” And he dares to stand toe-to-toe with Daenerys Targaryen and tell her and her band of technically illegal immigrants: “We have a serious problem with radical Islam.”
