Malala Yousafzai Opens Birmingham Library
BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 03: Malala Yousafzai opens the new Library of Birmingham at Centenary Square on September 3, 2013 in Birmingham, England. The new futuristic building was officially opened by 16-year-old Malala Yousafzai who was attacked by Taliban gunmen on her school bus near her former home in Pakistan in October 2012. The new building was designed by architect Francine Hoube and has cost 189 million GBP. The modern exterior of interlacing rings reflects the canals and tunnels of Birmingham. The library's ten floors will house the city's internationally significant collections of archives, photography and rare books as well as it's lending library. Malala Yousafzai, the 18-year-old Pakistani education activist, called Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump’s views on Muslims“tragic” and “full of hate.”

“If your intention is to stop terrorism, do not try to blame the whole population of Muslims for it because it cannot stop terrorists,” she said at a ceremony in Birmingham, England, remembering the 134 children killed in a Taliban attack on a school in Pakistan last year, the BBC reports.

Trump recently called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the U.S.until U.S. “representatives can figure out what is going on” a few days after a shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., was carried out by a Muslim couple.

“That’s really tragic that you hear these comments which are full of hatred, full of this ideology of being discriminative towards others,” she said.

Her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, who also spoke at the event, added, “It will be very unfair, very unjust that we associate 1.6 billion with a few terrorist organizations.”
